Tale
A family is invited to spend the entire weekend at a secluded house in the countryside, but as the weekend progresses, they realize that there is a dark side to the family that invited them. James McAvoy and Mackenzie Davis share which elements of their characters they found most fascinating and compliment each other as they discuss their different approaches. The story is inspired by the experiences of Christian Tafdrup, the director of the original Danish film Speak No Evil (2022), who befriended a Dutch couple while on vacation in Tuscany with his wife. Although the Dutch were a bit socially awkward, the two couples got along very well, and upon returning home, Tafdrup received an invitation from the Dutch family to come to the Netherlands.

his story for the film was born as he unleashed his darkest fantasies of what might have happened if he had accepted (although he claimed that the original Dutch couple had never given him any bad vibes). In this remake, the nationalities of the two families have been swapped to American and British. In the bathroom, as he washes his eye, he has a subconjunctival hemorrhage in his left eye, in the next scene his eyes. Ben Dalton: Why are you doing this to us?

I just watched the new version of Speak No Evil and in typical fashion the American version only had to change the ending which made the original absolutely incredible to watch as a horror film.
It didn’t make you as angry as the first
I didn’t hate the 2024 version, but it didn’t have nearly the thrill of the first. It didn’t make you want to strangle the entire cast like the first. And it didn’t make you feel any feelings for the characters like the first. As much as you can hate the characters’ stupid naivety or pure evil, you still felt something for all of them in the first.
The first 10/10 the second 6/10
And that’s being generous because it wasn’t as terrible as it could have been, but really watch the original if you really want a good movie experience that leaves you feeling relaxed instead of, well, that happened..
