The Wooden Man was inspired by Jewish folklore about the Golem, a large clay figure that can be brought to life through rituals to obey its creator’s commands. Ted’s patient Olin Boole knocks on the door

Ted Timmis is a psychiatrist who works with prisoners with mental disorders. His wife Dani Timmins is alone in their newly purchased house. She tells Dani that someone snuck into the house when she wasn’t looking.
A year passes
Dani’s blind twin sister Darcy Odello, who claims to be clairvoyant, visited the house on the anniversary of Dani’s murder. Ted has a new girlfriend Yana. I really like the beginning. It’s like a ghost story told around a campfire. The movie should have expanded on this section until the malevolent entity shows up.
He needs to slow down a bit
They need to save that disclosure for later. I just didn’t want the time jump to happen so quickly. I want to play with the tension of that opening even more. Once it moves along, the story is fine, but I don’t want Yana to just get herself out of there. Maybe it would work better if Yana wasn’t so determined to leave the house.
The final act has some great ideas that surprised me
They would be even more surprising if the specific part hadn’t been revealed earlier. It’s a nice little horror thriller with some clever twists.
